The Republican Party says they want to go back to the days of Reagan as though those were good days in America
The Democrats say that what America did under Clinton was good, but they honestly believe that America can still do better.
I remember when Clinton ran for President and the Republicans ridiculed his economic plan as basically creating "Chicken Jobs", but I remember he won that election and after the 8 years of Reagan and the 4 years of George H.W. Bush President Clinton and the Democrats created the greatest economy this country has ever seen.
Then unfortunately after a much contested and very ugly election George Bush was elected President of the United States and our country has never been the same.
In the coming year not only were we hit by terrorist, the Republicans then compounded that terrible event by making the mistake of lying our way into the War in Iraq to go along with the War we were already fighting in Afghanistan.
And while this was happening they simultaneously had begun cutting the taxes on the very wealthiest people and corporations in our country and begin stupidly to borrow money to not only pay our bills but to pay for the wars we were fighting from China which has worked to the detriment of our own economy.
Job creation for America and the American people was practically non existent for the entire eight long years of the Administration of George Bush and the Republican Party and in fact resulted in catastrophic job losses and the worst recession since the 1930's and by the time he actually left office we were losing jobs at the rate of nearly 800,000 jobs a month.
And to make matters worse our entire banking, financial and housing sectors of our economy were all close to collapse, by 2009 the Big Three Automakers were on the ropes and in desperate need of help from the government.
I personally think that had John McCain been elected President in 2008 as opposed to President Obama that it would have been and even worse nightmare for America over the course of the last 3 1/2 years.
And also I think that today in 2012 that the election of a man like Mitt Romney who lacks any clear cut vision to return America to greatness and a man that is almost devoid of character and conviction would most certainly be a unmitigated disaster for the working men and women of this country.
Recently Mitt Romney hired a man that was a openly homosexual, a man admittedly very knowledgeable and a expert in Foreign Affairs and National Security, he was given and ultimatum by Bryan Fischer a Christian Conservative and Radio talk show host. To either get rid of that man or lose the political support of Right Wing Evangelical Christians.
Mitt Romney relented and gave into the pressure and let the man go, insisting that he really would have kept him but that the man chose to resign instead.
I said it the day I watched the Bryan Fischer video, as I watched and listened to that man gleefully describe to his audience how he had forced Mitt Romney and his campaign to get rid of Richard Grenell.
And I knew right then that Mitt Romney would not stand up for any person or group of people in America against the racist, the bigots and especially the Right Wing Evangelical Christians.
The way I see it the only group of people Mitt Romney is willing to risk defending are his fellow Mormons.
But I don't see or picture Mitt Romney as being a strong defender of civil rights for minorities, sexual discrimination against women , and especially employment discrimination as it relates to the LGBT community.
