The Free-Press said it was sticking with Obama, however, citing a “stunning record of accomplishments he has compiled over the last four years” beginning with the auto bailout.
“General Motors and Chrysler are thriving — a long, long way from the edge of insolvency, which is where Obama found them on his first day in office,” the paper wrote in an editorial explaining its endorsement. “Bridge loans and managed bankruptcies turned them around, and stable growth followed soon after. Is there anything more important to people here in Michigan?”
The editorial listed Obama’s healthcare reform law, the killing of Osama bin Laden, and job growth since 2009 as reason the president should be reelected.
