Personally I was so sickened by the Republican Administration of George W. Bush and their response to the 'Disaster of Hurricane Katrina" and I don't mind telling you that I have been watching and hoping that we respond better to the "Disaster of Hurricane Sandy".
I am watching more than anything to see how well we "the US Government especially FEMA" reacts to this disaster.
So far I am actually proud of the response of our Government, and even the political posturing of the Republicans as they try and denigrate the President's role while simultaneously trying to build up and applaud the role of the Republican Mayors and Governors, to me reflects more poorly on them than it does on the President and his team.
One of these days the Republicans will really understand that politics really does and should end at the waters edge, especially when our troops are overseas and in harms way. Or like now when a 800 mile monster storm arrives on our shore and devastates some of our greatest cities and states.
As a veteran who took and oath to defend the United States, I truly realize the meaning of those words "One Nation, Under GOD, Indivisible,With Liberty and Justice For All".
In the overall scheme of things a misstep by the Obama Administration in Benghazi Libya would never have been enough to sway my vote in the Presidential Election on November 6, 2012.
But a repeat of the mistakes made by the Bush Administration during and after Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast certainly would have made me sit out of this election.
I know that and American Ambassador died in Benghazi along with 3 other men, but I am confident that all of them knew the risk they were taking and accepted those risk when they agreed to take their assignment on foreign soil in a hostile country.
On the other hand it was "Mother Nature" and not terrorist which killed maybe 50 Americans, and I personally will not be surprised if more die as a result of the suffering and deprivation they will have to endure.
But it is my hope that none, not one will die from mistakes made by and uncaring government that was late and slow in their reaction to the real human tragedy that we watched unfold here in America.
Finally I salute all of those regardless of their political party the first responders to this tragedy in all of the affected states.
